HEATHER McCULLOUGH

Impressions in Watercolor

ABOUT THE ARTIST

From the first time she watched complementary colors mix wet-in-wet, Heather has been hooked on watercolor painting. Now more than thirty years later, she continues to find the journey ever more fascinating.

Heather is a former internal medicine physician who began her study of art as a hobby.  Serious study followed and she spent years attending classes and workshops, including a long running studio class.  She has devoted full time to her art since retirement from medicine in 2018, and now splits her time between Florida,  Wyoming and visiting family in Camas, Washington.

In interpreting what she sees, her artistic goal is to capture and make timeless the inherently evanescent moments of our lives.  She enjoys plein air painting along with studio work and returns to watercolor repeatedly for its spontaneity, transparency and for the rigor it demands of the artist. “Watercolor demands that each scene is first understood, planned  and then executed with confidence and verve – something that continues to present fresh challenges and opportunities with every painting,” said Heather.
