ASHLEY HOTH

OIL PAINTER

Ashley has been amazed by nature, form, and color her whole life. As a teen living abroad with her family, she was selected to study classical figure drawing and advanced perspective under master artists in Europe. She has built on this opportune foundation in and out of college, studying eagerly. She is a certified recreational therapist and truly believes in the healing power of play and creative expression.

She reaches for oil paints and charcoal, and loves a quick, fresh, wet-on-wet painting method. Books, florals, and objects take on layers of meaning as she arranges stories that vary from simple to deep.

Her natural surroundings are simplified to “dusty denim blues and buttercream yellows” as she takes visual notes for herself amid daily life. Her work has been exhibited in galleries, shows, and publications in multiple states over the past 15 years, and she lives in the woods of Castle Rock, Washington, with her husband and three young children.
